Welcome to Immigrant Finance — a personal finance blog just for immigrants!
We\’re so glad you\’re here!
I\’m an immigration lawyer by day, a creative social entrepreneur at heart, and the Founder of Immigrant Finance. I come from a hardworking immigrant family who fought their way out of poverty.
My husband is also a recent immigrant to the U.S. When he first moved to the U.S. in 2013, we had no idea how he as a new immigrant could open a U.S. bank account, sign up for a first-time credit card, or figure out other important personal finance needs like get health insurance.
There was no where for us to go for advice about personal finance for immigrants.
It was very frustrating, stressful, and scary. There were no books, websites, or podcasts about personal finance for immigrants. We had to figure it all out and struggle by ourselves, and felt very alone. We had to teach ourselves everything. It took years of research.
We don\’t want you to struggle like we did.
We created Immigrant Finance to have one single place for information about personal finance — just for immigrants. By sharing what we have learned along the way about money issues in a new country, and what we are still figuring out as we go, we hope we can help make it easier for you.
YOU deserve to EMPOWER YOURSELF WITH INFORMATION ON how TO DEVELOP stability and BUILD wealth.
I strongly believe that access to personal finance information is a powerful tool for immigrants to develop stability, build wealth, and thrive.
If you have moved to a new country, you know how difficult it is to figure out banks and the financial system. You also know how overwhelming the immigration system can be.
Many personal finance strategies can also help you protect against immigration problems or make it easier for you to get legal status or become a citizen in the future.
Learning about personal finance is a powerful tool for immigrants to take action and develop stability in an uncertain world.

A little more about me:
From my experience as an immigration attorney working with hundreds of immigrants facing challenging situations and from being married to a recent immigrant, I have a wealth of knowledge to share with you about personal finance for immigrants.
I\’m not a certified financial planner and I\’m not offering legal representation here on this site (see disclaimer). Instead, I share information based on my real life practical experience of what I\’ve seen firsthand in nearly ten years of experience serving immigrants and from personal experience going through the entire process of learning how to navigate the U.S. financial system as a new immigrant with my husband. Through Our Immigrant Finance Story, we have many lessons to share with you.
I am passionate about empowering people from around the world to reach their potential. I have advocated for immigrants\’ rights in the Middle East, Europe, Latin America, the U.S.-Mexico border, and Washington, D.C. region of the U.S., where I live now. For immigration projects I\’ve done, I\’ve been highlighted in the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, selected as a Fulbright Scholar, and awarded an Equal Justice Works fellowship.
My work on personal finance for immigrants has been shared in Aspiration, Camino Financial, Fundera, and the Money Matters Podcast and Radio Show.
